Our History
Australian Fire Hose was the first manufacturer of lined fire hose in Australia. After many years of successful operation Australian Fire Hose was sold as a going concern in 1976.
In 1981 Australian Fire Hose again commenced operation manufacturing fire hose. The operation was set up in Manilla in regional north western New South Wales. Manilla is 40 kilometres from the major regional centre of Tamworth and equidistant from the cities of Sydney and Brisbane.
Australian Fire Hose commenced in 1981 with two circular weaving looms. The product produced then was percolating latex lined hose. Australian Fire Hose is acknowledged as the Australian leader in the technology of lining hose with latex. Our percolating hose was marketed under the brand name Ranger. This hose was used extensively by professional urban and bush fire fighting bodies in New South Wales and Victoria.
Australian Fire Hose developed a process of lining hose with a thermo setting plastic tube. The tube was originally imported from Europe. Since then Australian Fire Hose has installed an extrusion line to produce suitable tubes for lining and coating a variety of hose types. Also abrasion resistant processes have been developed.
By 1991 the business had grown to such an extent that the purchase of a third loom was required. This upgrade in weaving capacity lifted Australian Fire Hose annual capacity to over 300,000 metres of hose. At this time additional premises were acquired to provide space for expanded hose lining operations.
In November 1991 Australian Fire Hose achieved registration as a StandardsMark Licensee. Australian Fire Hose’s prime motivation for seeking this licence was a commitment to produce high quality fire hose.
Australian Fire Hose relocated to Taree in August 2006. We now operate three circular weaving looms.
